Value added by industry is an indicator of business productivity in the RDA Northern Territory. It shows how productive each industry sector is at increasing the value of its inputs. An analysis of the valued added by industry sectors in the RDA Northern Territory in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Mining (10,237 million or 34.0%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (3,256 million or 10.8%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,750 million or 9.1%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 16,244 million in total or 53.9% of the total value added by industry in the the RDA Northern Territory.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Northern Territory accounted for 34.0% in Mining; 10.8% in Public Administration and Safety and 9.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
