An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the East Gippsland Shire in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($919million or 25.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($465million or 13.1%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($294million or 8.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,678 million in total or 47.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the the East Gippsland Shire.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Victoria accounted for 24.2% in Construction; 7.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance and 1.6% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing.

The major differences between local sales by industries of the East Gippsland Shire and Victoria were:
