Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the City of Brisbane in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($35,984million or 17.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($23,208million or 11.1%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($17,278million or 8.3%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $76,470 million in total or 36.6% of the total local sales by total industry in the the City of Brisbane.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 22.1% in Construction; 7.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 5.2% in Financial and Insurance Services.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the City of Brisbane and Queensland were:
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (17.2% compared to 22.1%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (11.1% compared to 7.2%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Mining (1.7% compared to 5.2%)
- A larger percentage of local sales by Financial and Insurance Services (8.3% compared to 5.2%)

- Health Care and Social Assistance (+$2,814 million)
- Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (+$2,552 million)
- Financial and Insurance Services (+$2,519 million)
