Dominant groups

An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Limestone Coast region in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($878million or 20.2%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($731million or 16.8%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($401million or 9.2%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $2,010 million in total or 46.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Limestone Coast region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 26.3% in Construction; 2.3% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 8.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between local sales by industries of the Limestone Coast region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (16.8% compared to 2.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Construction (20.2% compared to 26.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Mining (0.1% compared to 4.8%)
