Exports by industry are sales of goods and services to non-resident households, businesses and other organisations, outside the Limestone Coast region boundaries. Exports (domestic) include all exports from the area to other parts of Australia. Exports (international) includes all exports from the Region to countries outside Australia.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Limestone Coast region in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (2,618 million or 54.5%)
  • Manufacturing (1,266 million or 26.3%)
  • Retail Trade (215 million or 4.5%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 4,099 million in total or 85.3% of the total exports by industry in the the Limestone Coast region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 12.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 16.1% in Manufacturing and 3.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Limestone Coast region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (54.5% compared to 12.7%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (26.3% compared to 16.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Health Care and Social Assistance (2.4% compared to 10.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (0.4% compared to 8.3%)

The largest changes in the total exports by industries between 2018/19 and 2023/24 in the Limestone Coast region were for:
