Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in RDA BGLAP Region in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing (1,075 million or 42.0%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (645 million or 25.2%)
  • Retail Trade (111 million or 4.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 1,830 million in total or 71.5% of the total exports by industry in the RDA BGLAP Region.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in South Australia accounted for 16.1% in Manufacturing; 12.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 3.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of RDA BGLAP Region and South Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Manufacturing (42.0% compared to 16.1%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (25.2% compared to 12.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Public Administration and Safety (0.3% compared to 8.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.6% compared to 7.9%)
