An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Whitsunday in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($1,107million or 29.9%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing ($317million or 8.6%)
  • Manufacturing ($252million or 6.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,677 million in total or 45.3% of the total local sales by total industry in the Whitsunday.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 22.1% in Construction; 6.1% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing and 7.5% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between local sales by industries of Whitsunday and Queensland were:

  • A larger percentage of local sales by Construction (29.9% compared to 22.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3.1% compared to 7.2%)
