Dominant groups
An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Riverina and Murray Region in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Construction ($3,250million or 24.4%)
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($1,465million or 11.0%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance ($1,085million or 8.1%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $5,800 million in total or 43.5% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Riverina and Murray Region.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 22.9% in Construction; 1.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 7.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between local sales by industries of the Riverina and Murray Region and New South Wales were:
- A larger percentage of local sales by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (11.0% compared to 1.4%)
- A smaller percentage of local sales by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (4.2% compared to 9.9%)
