Dominant groups
An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the City of Newcastle in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing (3,550 million or 20.6%)
- Mining (2,665 million or 15.5%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (2,665 million or 15.5%)
In combination these three industries accounted for 8,881 million in total or 51.6% of the total exports by industry in the the City of Newcastle.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 16.3% in Manufacturing; 11.9% in Mining and 3.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between the total exports by industries of the City of Newcastle and New South Wales were:
