Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the MidCoast Council area in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($1,341 million or 28.2%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($505 million or 10.6%)
  • Public Administration and Safety ($505 million or 10.6%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $2,352 million in total or 49.4% of the total imports by industry in the the MidCoast Council area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 33.5% in Manufacturing; 8.0% in Financial and Insurance Services and 6.2% in Public Administration and Safety.

The major differences between total imports by industries of the MidCoast Council area and New South Wales were:

  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Manufacturing (28.2% compared to 33.5%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Public Administration and Safety (10.6% compared to 6.2%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (8.9% compared to 4.7%)
