Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the MidCoast Council area in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Mining (503 million or 26.6%)
  • Manufacturing (339 million or 17.9%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (203 million or 10.8%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 1,045 million in total or 55.3% of the total exports by industry in the the MidCoast Council area.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 11.9% in Mining; 16.3% in Manufacturing and 2.8% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the MidCoast Council area and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Mining (26.6% compared to 11.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.6% compared to 13.1%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Accommodation and Food Services (10.8% compared to 2.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1.6% compared to 9.1%)
