Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in the Shire of East Pilbara in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($4,850 million or 31.4%)
- Mining ($2,919 million or 18.9%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($1,902 million or 12.3%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $9,671 million in total or 62.6% of the total imports by industry in the the Shire of East Pilbara.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Western Australia accounted for 31.1% in Manufacturing; 13.2% in Mining and 8.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.
The major differences between total imports by industries of the Shire of East Pilbara and Western Australia were:
- A larger percentage of total imports by Mining (18.9% compared to 13.2%)
- A larger percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (12.3% compared to 8.6%)
- A smaller percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (0.6% compared to 4.2%)
