Dominant groups

An analysis of the total exports by industry sectors in the Yass Valley in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (135 million or 44.7%)
  • Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (75 million or 24.7%)
  • Manufacturing (28 million or 9.3%)

In combination these three industries accounted for 237 million in total or 78.7% of the total exports by industry in the the Yass Valley.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 4.2% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 2.5% in Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services and 16.3% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the total exports by industries of the Yass Valley and New South Wales were:

  • A larger percentage of total exports by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (44.7% compared to 4.2%)
  • A larger percentage of total exports by Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (24.7% compared to 2.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of total exports by Financial and Insurance Services (0.4% compared to 13.1%)
