Dominant groups

An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Tablelands in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Manufacturing ($642 million or 32.2%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services ($197 million or 9.9%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services ($179 million or 9.0%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $1,019 million in total or 51.1% of the total imports by industry in the Tablelands.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 33.6% in Manufacturing; 7.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services and 7.8% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between total imports by industries of Tablelands and Queensland were:

  • A smaller percentage of total imports by Mining (2.6% compared to 9.4%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (9.9% compared to 7.3%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Health Care and Social Assistance (7.0% compared to 4.4%)
  • A larger percentage of total imports by Wholesale Trade (5.4% compared to 3.1%)

The total total imports by industry in Tablelands increased by $381 million between 2018/19 and 2023/24.

The largest changes in the total imports by industries between 2018/19 and 2023/24 in Tablelands were for:

  • Manufacturing (+$121 million)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (+$56 million)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (+$40 million)
  • Public Administration and Safety (+$33 million)
