An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in the Southern Downs Regional Council in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:

  • Construction ($1,723million or 47.5%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($255million or 7.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance ($231million or 6.4%)

In combination these three industries accounted for $2,209 million in total or 61.0% of the total local sales by total industry in the the Southern Downs Regional Council.

In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 22.1% in Construction; 1.6% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing and 8.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
