An analysis of the local sales by industry sectors in Burdekin Shire in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing ($354million or 24.1%)
- Construction ($237million or 16.1%)
- Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services ($128million or 8.7%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $719 million in total or 48.9% of the total local sales by total industry in the Burdekin Shire.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in Queensland accounted for 1.6% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 22.1% in Construction and 4.4% in Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services.
