Dominant groups
An analysis of the total imports by industry sectors in Ballina Shire in 2023/24 shows the three largest industries were:
- Manufacturing ($820 million or 35.9%)
- Financial and Insurance Services ($233 million or 10.2%)
- Public Administration and Safety ($203 million or 8.9%)
In combination these three industries accounted for $1,256 million in total or 55.0% of the total imports by industry in the Ballina Shire.
In comparison, the same 3 industries in New South Wales accounted for 33.5% in Manufacturing; 8.0% in Financial and Insurance Services and 6.2% in Public Administration and Safety.
The major differences between total imports by industries of Ballina Shire and New South Wales were:
